Amanda Bibbins’ Senior Square

If you’re reading this now, it’s because in October I had no idea what to write. Not to mention there are a lot of people to thank! High school has been a remarkable adventure. I had music, art, and travel opportunities I never would have had otherwise.

Concert and Marching Band — I have made some of the greatest friends thanks to you. I have learned so much about myself as a musician, but also as a person and leader over the past four years. Band was always a constant to my day, and that’s something I don’t think anyone outside of the band room could ever understand. “One Band, One Sound”

Jazz 1 and 2 — You guys are phenomenal. Keep improvising and practicing. “Sometimes you have to play a long time to be able to play like yourself.”

Photography Club — You guys always brighten my week, so thank you for your years of support. I hope every one of you continues to take photos. “Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications, offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution.”

Probie — You are the best sister and best friend I’ve ever had. You’re the only person who can keep me sane sometimes. I know next year in Michigan you’ll do great things. I’m so proud of you, just as I know you’re proud of me. When all else fails, know that at the end of the day I’m always here; blood is always thicker than water. “Life is like dancing. If we have a big floor, many people will dance. Some will get angry when the rhythm changes. But life is changing all the time.”

To a few teachers in particular ( Mr. Yutkins, Ms. Colotti, Frau Conklin, Ms. Beekley, Mr. O’Keefe, and Mr. Gray ) — Thank you thank you thank you. In one way or another, you have changed my life. You have forced me to look inward, encouraged me to observe more around me, and pushed me to aspire to be (and do!) more than I ever thought possible. “By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.”

To my friends and family– Your love and support has bettered me. You have steered me in the right direction through careful suggestion, but have always let me make my own mistakes. I love you all so much. “You don’t choose your family. They are God’s gift to you, as you are to them.”

  1. I wrote to you and Rachel last night will repeat myself: I lack the words to express how proud I am of you, the person you are, and the directions you’re choosing. You are a source of inspiration to both Jody and me.

    Enjoy the journey.
