I own 10 pairs of boots (including my horseback riding boots), 4 pairs of flats, 2 pairs of sneakers, and 3 pairs of what we’ll call “other.” What can be determined, aside from the fact I like boots? It’s too much. It really is too much for one person. It blatantly disregards the anatomically inevitable that I have just two feet, which lend themselves to one pair of shoes at a time. So why do I overbuy?
A simple scan of my closet at home and at Simmons showed some really scary results. At some point, everyone should do a “Consumption Scan” and truly look into what they need, versus what they want when it comes to purchasing power. What is it about consumer culture that draws us in?
